Where I live it has been a tradition to remove the grass in some of the meridians and in its place to plant marigolds, the city's official flower. Although we use the metric system in Canada the long rows of orange flowers has been dubbed the Marigold Mile.
As I was working on this pattern and watching the colours emerge to form a pretty swirling design it reminded me of our meridians, jam packed with orange coloured blossoms, and I knew that "Marigold Mile" would be the perfect name!
The yarn that I chose for this project is Blue Heron Bamboo Lace which is comprised of 100% bamboo. This translates into a soft fabric with a hint of sheen and amazing drape, so this super versatile scarf/shawl hangs perfectly no matter how you wear it. Plus the properties of bamboo will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
I just have to finish up a chart for the edging and then the pattern will be coming your way!
Thank-you! I was hoping to add some pictures of the actual Marigold Mile as they usually start planting on the May long weekend, but when I drove by last there was still nothing :(
how gorgeous, and i love how you came up with the name for the pattern
