I made a set of these "Coffee Cuffs" for everyone in my family quite some time ago and it never occurred to me to share the pattern...until now.  It will be up in our shop shortly.

What better way is there to welcome guests to your home then a basket of cabled slippers by the front door? These comfy slippers have lots of stretch so they fit a range of different sizes making them the perfect slipper for your urban cottage!

Finished slippers measure 8½, 9, 9½” (21½, 23, 24 cm) long. Size small fits ladies size 5 to 6½, size medium fits ladies size 6 to 7½, and size large fits ladies size 7 to 8½. I have also included a size note to help you achieve additional lengths.

This detailed, well written crochet pattern includes illustrations and figure pictures. Pattern calls for a 4.00 mm (G) crochet hook and 1¼ balls of Cascade® 220 Superwash Wool.

I'm so excited that my new crochet pattern for slippers is almost ready...

finished project - lacy pinafore by lucille laflamme.

 

Yay...I finished the Lacy Pinafore for my dear friends first Grand-baby! If you read my previous post called "the round that wouldn't end" then you know that I found this project to be a tad challenging! I used a pretty vintage cotton that I'm guessing was a size 20 so the stitches were super tiny. When I was finished I hand washed the dress and then I carefully ironed it while it was still wet. My mom suggested this blocking technique, and for this particular project it worked extremely well.

 

This project completely changed my attitude towards my other crochet projects for the better. Spending hours on one row only to tear it out and restart makes the pair of slippers that I'm working on, using a worsted weight yarn, seem like a cakewalk :)

more buttons...

Back in December 2011 we posted about some beautiful polymer clay buttons that we had discovered, by Orly Rabinowitz of Israel. Recently, we came across a local B.C. artist that also creates handmade buttons from polymer clay and we are excited to share our latest find with you. Dave and Carolyn Good are the husband and wife team behind 2GoodClaymates. They are a super lovely couple and I had the privilege of meeting them personally at a local quilt show. Carolyn is passionate about creating unique pieces and her husband and best friend, Dave, helps her with some of the finishing details. You can tell that they both put a lot of thought and care into their creations.

In addition to buttons Dave and Carolyn also create gorgeous shawl pins and scarf accessories. I love leaves and the autumn colours so I am especially fond of this piece...

new pattern - felted bracelets by kim miller.

Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate

I'm a big fan of bold, chunky jewelry but comfort is also important to me which is why I love these felted crochet bracelets! These bracelets are soft and warm and the best part is that they don't make loud clunky noises everytime that you hit them on something. They look great on their own or you can dress them up with a bit of lace detail. They also make a great wristlet for your keys.

These bracelets work up fast and they are the perfect crochet project for you to use up those scraps of wool for felting. my new digs....

Life has brought me many, many changes lately. My entire married life I have lived in British Columbia, Canada, but we have recently switched things up in our life. We have undergone a huge move, and we now enjoy the beautiful scenery of the big open prairies of Saskatchewan! Here is a glimpse of what I now call home...

It is truly beautiful but in a very different way than anything that I have been accustom to for the last 20 years. Just a few nights ago, I got to experience the most beautiful display of dancing Northern Lights. It was amazing!!! I just wished that there was a way that I could have captured it on film.

Designing new crochet patterns has taken a back burner for now, unfortunately, as I have got a new project in the works, but this time it involves wood and nails rather than fiber and a hook.  We are building our own home!  This is a new adventure for us.  And when I say adventure, I mean adventure!  This is what we have been working in the last few weeks...

MUD!! Lots and lots of mud!! Just a few days after the hole was dug it began to rain.  A few days of hot weather dried it up enough that we could work at the footings a little. I was excited to have pretty new pink rubber boots to work in, but I'm sad to say that they are not so pretty anymore!
