yay vogue!

Have you heard that Vogue magazine is coming out with a special crochet issue again this year? Last year, for the first time in 18 years, Vogue came out with an issue dedicated to crochet and it was such a huge success that they quickly made plans for the Vogue Knitting Crochet 2013 Collectors Issue! The magazine goes on sale May 1st and is jammed packed with lots of gorgeous crochet projects which you can view here. Last year they sold out quickly so be sure to grab your copy while you can!

instant downloads are now available in our etsy shop!

We have just added a great new feature to our Etsy shop! With the exception of our "create your own bundle" sets, we are excited to announce that all of the crochet patterns that we have listed in our etsy stop are now available for instant download. No more waiting for us to manually send them out by email. After purchasing your crochet pattern you will receive a DOWNLOAD LINK where you will be able to retrieve your new file.

If you have your eye on several crochet patterns we have a "create your own bundle" set! This allows you to choose ANY 5 patterns from our shop for one low price of $18.00 USD!!!

Many of our patterns are priced at 4.99, so depending on the patterns chosen you can save as much as $6.95!! As already mentioned, this listing will not be available as an instant download. In order for us to customize the order to your specifications, we will still have to manually email out the patterns. For the "create your own bundle", just leave us a note in the “Message to Seller” at the check out telling us which patterns you would like added to your order and PDF files of your chosen patterns will be emailed to you within 24 hours of receiving payment. Please note that only individual pattern listings will qualify for this offer.

We have plans to add even more bundles to our Etsy shop, so when you stop by be sure to check out our "Sales/Special Offers" section!

an introduction to baffie.

We are excited to announce that we have translated some of our crochet designs from American Standard to British Standard crochet terms and they are now available through baffie.co.uk. If you are interested in seeing which of our crochet designs have been translated click here. If you see a pattern that you have already purchased from us and you would like the UK version then please just let us know as we would be more than happy to email it to you.

"Baffie" is the Scottish word for slippers and baffie.co.uk is an online gift boutique, that sells handcrafted, affordable home accessories and home comforts created by artisans and independent designers. Not only will you have loads of fun exploring this great new site but you will also find lots of funky and affordable treats for your home and for giving.

Julia Douglas is a textile and mixed media visual artist based just outside Haddington in Scotland and she is the creative force behind baffie.

Julia's inspiration for her work is the home and the relationship that people have with the objects they put in their homes. In Julia's own words: "A constant inspiration for my work is the home and the relationship people have with the objects they put in their homes. I make art by exploring seemingly trivial household objects, and remake these by playfully transforming them, often using them as surrogates for the owner’s body, and, consequently drawing attention to their significance in helping to tell a story about the inhabitants’ life and the culture in which they lived."

You can view some of Julia's art here: http://www.juliadouglas.co.uk/. Some other places that you will find Julia are ravelry.com, and http://www.facebook.com/baffiegifts.  Or join in with her at http://www.facebook.com/Knit.It.Community and share your latest projects and passions.  Have fun browsing!!!

Update December 31st, 2011:

Lights out for baffie....we received some sad news from Julia this month regarding baffie. We are sad to say that for various reasons Julia has decided to close baffie :(
