current project - lacy pinafore by lucille laflamme.

A good friend of mine is expecting her first Grand-baby and she loves crocheted lace, so I'm making a little dress for her. I'm using a size 7/1.65 mm steel crochet hook and some beautiful, vintage, lace weight cotton. The cotton is very delicate and it is a pretty off white colour with a slight sheen. I haven't done a lot of lace work so I'm feeling very Victorian as I work on this project. I will post more pictures when the dress is all finished and blocked.

If you are interested in the pattern you can purchase the download at e-PatternsCentral. When I checked earlier today the download for the complete collection, which includes instructions for 5 different frilly little frocks, was still on sale for $3.95 USD.

current project.

I'm very pleased with how this bag is turning out! I am working with Nordic Montoya Beach which is a 100% Linen. I just started in on my second ball. The yarn has a pretty sheen and seems to be a good fit for the bag. I think that I will take the advice in the pattern and chose a light coloured lining to highlight the lace and the relief pattern.

current project.

I try not to purchase random balls of yarn just because I love the colour, texture or what have you. I like to have a plan or a project in mind, but all self control seems to fly out the window when I hear the words "50% off"!

I had no idea what I would do with this giant collection of 12 mini skeins all handpainted in the same gorgeous colours but I couldn't resist:)

The yarn is from Hand Painted Knitting Yarns, and this beautiful skein is a sea of texture, with 60 yards of each yarn, ranging from fine merino to boucle and glitters. At first I thought that I would make a triangle shawl, but because I was concerned about the colour pooling, and the different weights and textures of yarn I decided that I would have some fun and try my hand at free form crochet. I thought that I would start by crocheting a collection of different motifs...

...and when I'm done I will lay them all out and see what they want to be. I am hoping for a shawl. Not much of a plan, but I will keep you posted.

current project - maia shawl by lisa naskrent.

I just completed the Maia Shawl by Lisa Naskrent. I made this shawl once before and it is by far my favorite shawl pattern. The yarn that I chose is Lace Silk by Handmaiden Fine Yarn (100% Hand Dyed Silk). It's the kind of yarn that once you pick it up you know that you will never be able to put it down.

I decided that I wanted more of a scarf then a shawl so made it smaller than what the pattern called for and I did 5 instead of 3 fan rows.

If you are interested in making the Maia Shawl you can find the pattern here.
