This slip stitched cowl is light and airy but will provide plenty of warmth during the cool months. With the chunky yarn and the large hook, it makes a perfect project for a beginner or a quick project for an advanced crocheter. My husband bought me a new thermos, soooo of course I had to crochet a thermos cozy. I seriously can't even stop myself! Originally I had no plans of writing up a pattern, but once the cozy was completed, and I liked how it turned out, I wanted to share. Plus, I figured that if I wanted a cozy for my thermos then someone else might want one too.

Once considered old fashioned, hot water bottles have become a new trend, and stylish cozies for hot water bottles are popping up everywhere!

This knit-look cozy crochets up quickly, and the main body is a 4 row repeat that is easy to memorize. The cozy is designed to slip easily over your bottle and features a button-up closure on the back side.

This crochet pattern calls for 1¾ skeins of Cascade Yarns® 220 [100 g (3.53 oz)/201 meters (220 yds) per skein], which is a worsted weight (4). The pattern features the blue (Summer Sky - 7815) cozy and you should be comfortable with the following stitches and techniques: adjustable ring, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, front post double crochet, back post double crochet, front post treble crochet, half double crochet 2 together, front post double crochet 2 together, and front post double crochet 3 together.

I was feeling all headachie and blah when I woke up the other morning, but then I received these wonderful pictures from Jonelle, one of our customers, and they totally cheered me up!

For the owl bag Jonelle told us that the owl that she used to embellish the bag was actually from a ring. She just cut the ring part off and sewed the owl onto the bag...the rest she needle felted on.

I love the detail on the grape leaves...makes me want to dig out my needle felting kit!

new crochet pattern - felted coffee cuff by tara schreyer.

Skill Level: Easy

I'm all for using a regular re-useable to-go cup but sometimes you simply forget or are in such a hurry that you don't have time to grab it on your way out. But when you find yourself in the coffee shop for your morning coffee, you can at least pass on the paper sleeve. You can use a re-usable cuff that you have created instead!!

This is a crochet and felting pattern. The designs on the coffee cuffs in the pictures have been needle felted on and the sketches for a dragonfly, butterfly, and ladybug have been included in the pattern if you desire to use them. But really, there is no limit to what you can design on them.

Some basic knowledge of needle felting is required as the pattern doesn't explain the process of needle felting. However, you can find information right here on our blog (far down in the posting).

The pattern calls for 100% wool and is crocheted using simple stitches. After felting, the coffee cuff measures 2.75" high and 5" wide. It should fit most medium or large to-go coffee cups.

The pattern also includes figure pictures and simple instructions on how to felt.

I made a set of these "Coffee Cuffs" for everyone in my family quite some time ago and it never occurred to me to share the pattern...until now.  It will be up in our shop shortly.

day five of 7 days - 7 unfinished projects.

This is day five in a seven day series...

Originally, this "Bottoms-up Felted Coffee Cuff" was one of Tara's unfinished projects. My daughter really wanted one of these coffee cuff's so Tara generously offered me this one (some assembly required). Of course I snatched it up.

All I had to do to complete this project was to needle felted the swirls onto the pockets, attach the pockets and the pink heart, and buy and attach the belt buckle. All went well until it was time for me to sew the belt buckle on. You can automatically add a month onto any project that requires me to fire up the sewing machine.

Completion of this project took me all of 10 minutes most of which consisted of gathering the supplies and threading the sewing machine. It's amazes me how a bunch of small unfinished projects can start to add up and weigh on your mind...
