random friday freebie - crochet hook giveaway!

It's our first "random friday freebie" for 2015 and we have something very special planned for you! We are giving away this beautiful, handcrafted, interchangeable crochet hook set!

We have teamed up with local artisans, Dave and Carolyn of 2GoodClaymates, and we are very excited to be able to offer this wonderful set valued at $65.00 USD (approx. $80.00 CAD). This interchangeable crochet hook is not only pretty to look at, but it also feels great in your hand.

The flowers, leaves, and their signature lady bugs are not painted on, but rather they are created in the clay itself from Dave and Carolyn's own canes. Thin slices from the canes are then carefully applied to the crochet hook. Each hook they make then goes through a process which involves 3 bakings. The hook is then sanded by hand to create a silky smooth finish. Although this next picture is of their coloured floral set, it gives you an idea as to just how labour intensive this process is.

To ensure authenticity the bottom of hook is stamped with their signature logo.

Also included with this kit are 2 super adorable crochet stitch markers...a sweet little lady bug and a double sided leaf. They are perfect for crochet as they easily open to attach to your stitches and stay securely closed until removed. Plus, the polymer clay is super light so they don't pull on your work.

This set includes 8 interchangeable heads ranging in size from a 3.00 mm to a 7.00 mm, and the entire set is nicely enclosed in this soft faux leatherette case that fits in the palm of your hand.

wild primrose scarf - crochet pattern

Skill Level: Easy

This scarf is chunky and rugged yet beautiful. The name is appropriate as the middle section of the scarf is reminiscent of the hardy yet delicate Wild Primrose flower native to North America, Asia, and Europe.

This pattern is simple, calling for stitches such as double crochet, treble, and double treble, and can be completed in an evening, thus making it a great last minute gift for someone special.

Tara has been busy with moving which means that she has also been minimizing and organizing. This of course has inspired me to do the same and to start what I've been calling "31 days of getting rid of stuff".

Now, I know that you are all wondering what this has to do with "first friday freebie"? Well, both Tara and I have been going through our yarn stash and such, and we have put together a wonderful surprise package of various types of yarn, and what have you, for this months giveaway. This surprise bag, valued at over $50.00, is full of all sorts of goodies and will be awarded to one person.

To kick off what Tara and I consider to be the beginning of crochet season, we are excited to announce that this month we will be featuring three seperate giveaways!!!

The first giveaway is the crochet pattern for the Infinity Scarf and...

3 skeins of pre-wound Knit Picks Gloss Sock yarn in "Porcini" which is enough yarn for you to complete your project. The Porcini colour is currently unavailable so if you've been hankering to make the Infinity Scarf in the colour shown this is your chance!
